Celebrity Sightings in DC

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

We have had some exciting celebrities use our limousines in the past, but this month we have really been able to help out for a variety of events. Driver Erik Rivera of Reston Limo took care of Paul Wharton from Evolution Look as he attended the 1st Annual BET Honors which took place in Washington D.C on Saturday, January 12.

The event served to pay tribute to blacks in all aspects of work. Honorees were Alicia Keys (Entertainment), Tyra Banks (Media), Dr. Cornel West (Inspirational/Education), Richard Parsons (Corporate), the Honorable Maxine Waters (Government) and CEO Janice Bryant Howroyd (Entrepreneur). The BET Honors will air on February 22nd, 2008 and is hosted by Cedric the Entertainer with performances by: John Legend, Jill Scott, Ne-Yo, Wyclef, and Raheem DeVaughn.

We also worked with Paul as he hosted and attended multiple events last weekend. He hosted a small event for a few friends and some of the Washington Wizard’s wives that featured Wyclef Jean and his sister Melky discussing their non-profit work in Haiti. From there Erik took the group to Love Nightclub to enjoy Wyclef’s concert. Accompanying Paul was Jaslene Gonzales, the most recent winner of America’s Next Top Model.

On Saturday night, Jaslene hosted the “Teens Count: School Fashion Battle” event at DAR Constitution Hall. Paul served as a judge, and there were many great sponsors including the CW network, the Washington Post and WPGC 95.5. We were happy to serve Paul and his entourage for these high-class events, and look forward to engaging in future business with him. It’s wonderful to be able to help out for such great causes and people.

According to the Northern Virginia Transportation Alliance, on January 16, 2008, the National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board (TPB) approved incorporation of I-66 inside the Beltway spot improvements and the I-95/I-395 HOV/Bus/HOT Lanes into the region’s 2007 Constrained Long Range Plan (CLRP) and 2008-2013 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Public comment received on both projects was overwhelmingly positive by 100-1.

  • 325 of the 328 (99.1%) of individuals or organizations registering their views during the 30-day public comment period supported the I-66 improvements.

  • 342 of the 343 (99.7%) of individuals or organizations submitting comments supported the I-95/I-395 HOV/Bus/HOT Lanes

I-66 improvements involve the addition of a westbound lane to three segments between Lee Highway/Spout Run and the Dulles Access Road. The estimated cost for the project is $75.6 million with an estimated completion date of 2013.
