Hearings Set on Proposed Toll Road Hike

The public is invited to learn more about the proposal to increase rates on the Dulles Toll Road at three hearings set for August and September.

Under the proposal, tolls would increase by 25 cents at the Main Toll Plaza and at the ramps in 2010, and then by another 25 cents at the Main Plaza in the years 2011 and 2012. The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, which oversees operations of the toll road as part of the Dulles Metrorail extension project, set the hearings at these locations and on these dates:

Monday, Aug. 24: 5-8 p.m.
Ashburn Elementary School
44062 Fincastle Drive, Ashburn

Thursday, Sept. 3: 5-8 p.m.
McLean High School
1633 Davidson Road, McLean

Wednesday, Sept. 9: 5-8 p.m.
South Lakes High School
11400 South Lakes Drive, Reston

According to the MWAA Web site, at the sessions, there will be informational exhibits about the Metrorail Project; the cost and financing of the Metrorail Project; the Dulles Toll Road and potential improvements that may be made to the Toll Road in the future; the revenue anticipated to be raised as a result of the proposed toll increases; and how this additional revenue will be spent.

Those who can’t attend the hearings can find exhibition information at www.mwaa.com/tollroad. The public also may subt comments on the Web site the website once the exhibit information is posted in August.

Reston Limousine Honored with Awards

CEO and President Kristina Bouweiri recently was honored by local and regional organizations for her community service and her leadership of Reston Limousine, the Washington DC metropolitan area’s largest limousine/shuttle service.

dulles-chamber-logoThe first, the Dulles Regional Chamber, honored Bouweiri twice – once for Community Service and again for Excellence in Marketing and Enthusiasm – at the chamber’s annual Chairman’s Awards Luncheon on June 30th. The chamber, which is the largest in Fairfax County, acts as a community partner for 1,000 businesses and affiliates in the Dulles and Rt. 28 business corridors.

“Kristina Bouweiri, President of Reston Limousine, continues to be an amazing force for the DC Metro area, contributing her time and talent to assist so many worthy organizations and events,” says Eileen Curtis, president and CEO of the chamber. “She has been the recipient of numerous Community Service awards, including ours. At the end of the day, I don’t think there is any greater encomium to be bestowed.”

More recently, Reston Limousine was honored by the Women Presidents’ Educational Organization’s 2009 Done Deals Challenge, developed to recognize business contracts between WPEO Corporate Sponsors and Women Business Enterprise members.

“In the DC region, the number of Done Deals reported increased ten-fold this year,” said Liz Cullen, Executive Director, WPEO-DC. Cullen continued by saying, “We are pleased to honor Reston Limousine with the Done Deals Leadership Award for the most Done Deals with regional corporations completed by a certified women-owned business.”
