The young patients receiving care at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC, got a wonderful respite recently from their worries and cares at this year’s Night of Magic ball, hosted by the Northwest Federal Credit Union Foundation and sponsored in part by Reston Limousine.

Reston Limousine provided transportation for the young celebrants to the ball, which took place June 18 in the prime of prom season. Beautiful gowns, smiles, laughter, dancing and chocolate smudged faces were the scene that night at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center.

“Once again Reston Limousine generously contributed to the success of NWFCU Foundation’s Night of Magic,” said NWFCU Foundation Executive Director Linda Rogus. “They are a great example of a business that really cares about the community and partners to help people in so many ways.”

The Gaylord transformed their ballroom into a fairy tale wonderland with magic carpet rides, food, games and dancing, all made possible by generous NWFCU Foundation donors, including Platinum Star sponsors Reston Limousine, the Gaylord, Electric Entertainment, and DigitalMailer.

“My kids expressed that this was their favorite night ever” said one parent. “I can’t express how grateful we were to see the excitement in their faces and to watch them spend the evening dancing without a care in the world.”

This summer Washington DC is host to a unique “sport for social change event,” when about 200 homeless soccer players from across the country compete for the Street Soccer USA Championship 2010 at Kastles Stadium — and Reston Limousine is proud to support the event by providing transportation!

street soccer all_playersStreet Soccer USA, a national nonprofit, uses the sport of soccer to help improve the lives of homeless men and women around the country. The group’s signature event will take place from July 30 to Aug. 1 in fast-paced, 4 versus 4 street soccer action. This year, 22 teams from 19 cities including a social project from Russia will take part.

The event includes exhibition matches, live entertainment, and thousands of cheering fans and volunteers from the local and national communities – all for a social purpose: 75% of participants secure jobs, housing, or pursue further education after participating in the program, according to Street Soccer USA.
