SEE DC: International Spy Museum
Whether you’re planning a Date Night or child’s birthday party, the International Spy Museum offers a host of unique experiences and programs for young and old.
Couples who “Spy at Night,” for example, will enjoy creative cocktails and dine on dishes created by the award-winning Zola staff before taking part in Operation Spy. In this active experience, “participants will encounter some low light levels and confining spaces, an elevator, motion simulators, sound effects, and physical and mental challenges,” according to the museum’s website. For a glimpse into Zola’s new menu offerings, the local blog Mango and Tomato recently reviewed a five-course meal, saying the restaurant is “a great place for special occasions.”
Spy at Night is offered at 6 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. On Friday evenings only, a special spy tradecraft demonstration is provided; upcoming programs include “Ninja” on Jan. 28 and Feb. 11, “Handwriting” on Feb. 4 and 25, and “Meet a Spy” on Feb. 18.
For children between the ages of 7 and 12 years, Operation Birthday Cake gives your spy kids a mission to search the museum for clues that will help them decode a secret message. Kids older than 12 can participate in more intense missions as part of Operation Spy Birthday.
