National Mall – Anywhere on the National Mall is the best place to watch the fireworks.  However, it is also the busiest place to view them as well.  Make sure to arrive early with a blanket, beach chairs, and food for the best viewpoint.

Ground Level Viewing –  Sequoia, Tony & Joe’s Seafood Place on the Georgetown waterfront, Occidental Grill near the White House, Clyde’s of Gallery Place in Chinatown, and Muze Fusion Restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental are perfect to dine and watch the fireworks.

Check into a Hotel  –  The Hay Adams and JW Marriott, rooftops of the Hilton Garden Inn and The Graham Hotel are all great places to view the show as well.

US Supreme Court Plaza  –  The US Supreme Court building has an oval plaza perfect for unobstructed views of the fireworks.  Make sure to get there early to claim your seat.

Washington National Cathedral  – Being one of the highest points in the Washington, DC area, the grassy slope is a great place to picnic and watch the fireworks.

The US Air Force Memorial  – Across the Potomac, the height provided by this memorial offers an ideal vantage point for views of fireworks over the nation’s capital.

Top of the World Observation Level Picnic at the Top – If you’re looking to wander further afield, the Baltimore World Trade Center offers a fantastic view from 27 floors above the Inner Harbor. This non-alcoholic family event includes food and drink, children’s activities, and live DJ. Cost is $50 for adults and $25 for children ages 3-12.
