Plan Your Summer Brew Tour

Celebrate Virginia Craft Beer Month this month with a brew tour along the LoCo Ale Trail! Loudoun County is home to 35 craft breweries that have been clustered according to “geographic and thematic similarity” by Visit Loudoun to create the brewery trail. Be sure to grab a LoCo Ale Trail Passport to start collecting stamps and win prizes!

Of course, you’ll want to celebrate responsibly and safely – and we’re here to help. We can provide your designated driver to transport you and your group in a limo, sedan, SUV, Van Terra, Limo Sprinter, or minibus for your brewery tour. Our COVID-19 safety precautions including deep cleaning and disinfecting of vehicles, chauffeurs wearing a mask and gloves, hand sanitizers available in the vehicle, and more.

The breweries also will have their own safety precautions, including limits on the number of people at a table. You’ll want to check each brewery’s rules before scheduling your brew tour. Below are some highlights from popular breweries along the LoCo Ale Trail; click here for Visit Loudoun’s list of breweries.

Ashburn, Middleburg
Home to the Quarantine “survival” Canteen, Old Ox has two beer garden locations – click here to view their safety precautions. Summer brews include a very limited batch of a shandy made with the Filipino citrus fruit calamansi in their current Quarantine Canteen,  and the newly released Apricot Sky, a refreshing blonde ale made with “lavish amounts of apricot puree.” Foodies will want to visit the Ashburn site on Aug. 23 for the always popular Ford’s Fish Shack food truck and on Aug. 29, when the professional competition team Hog-It-BBQ serves up their Texas style BBQ. Besides six-packs, canteens and bottles to go, they have some of the best merch – now including hand sanitizer!

Adroit Theory’s esoteric beers that showcase barrel aging techniques have made it a destination brewery on the Loco Ale Trail. Seating available inside and on the outside patio, where you can sip on their latest  tap offerings – you might catch be able to catch Sanctimonious Enmity, a hazy DIPA with juicy aromatics, or Negation, a Russian Imperial Stout with toasted coconuts, pecans, cacao nibs and bourbon aged honey. Click here to find out what’s on tap this week.

With spectacular views of Loudoun Valley, the best seating in the house is outdoors anyway. Social distancing is followed, even outdoors – click here for their safety rules. Summery brews on tap include their Som’ Peach, a refreshing seasonal brew made with fresh peaches from Great Country Farms, and the Tart 31 Cherry Ale – a fruity beer that’s a kissing cousin to a sour. On Friday nights, enjoy live music while dining on signature dishes like BBQ Brisket Fried Potatoes with beer cheese, scallions and crema by Chef Justin Garrison. Click here for the music lineup.
