Free Audio Tour of Central Park

Heather Cross offers a great tip in a recent post on her New York City Travel Blog on About.com: a free audio tour, narrated by celebrities, of about 50 Central Park building and landmarks.

Here are excerpts from her post:

Whoopi Goldberg talks about Wollman Rink and the Alice in Wonderland Statue, Sarah Jessica Parker introduces visitors to The Pond, and you can learn about Strawberry Fields from Yoko Ono, simply by dialing 646-862-0997 and pressing the appropriate location number followed by the # sign. You’ll find green signs at various spots throughout Central Park with dialing instructions and numbers, or you can print out this map of Central Park with the location numbers (and celebrity spokespeople) already listed on it.

Most of the clips are about 2 minutes long, and there’s no charge to listen, aside from the minutes used on your cell phone plan. The phone number is accessible from cell phones, as well as landlines (feel free to call from your desk if you want to daydream about being in Central Park).

You can take advantage of this free audio tour during Reston Limousine’s popular New York City Day Trip, which leaves Tysons   in the morning and stops in Chinatown, Times Square and Central Park.

The next New York City Day Trip takes place Sunday, Dec. 27th. To book your seat or for more information, visit Reston Limousine’s Tours and Trips page at www.restonlimo.com/tours-trips/.
