Music in the mountains

There are numerous music festivals in the area this summer. But if you’re looking for something more — more bands, more music, more fun and adventure — then you’ll have to go a little farther to experience weekend-long music events filled with just about everything you could want in a music festival.

With the Blue Ridge Mountains serving as backdrop, and more than 50 performers, the  Floydfest II event near Floyd, VA, on July 26-29  promises to be one of the most spectacular festivals on the East Coast.

The three-day Firefly Music Festival July 20-22  will showcase The Killers, The Black Keys, Jack White and more than 40 other big-name acts on four stages in Dover, DE. This inaugural event promises unforgettable musical performances, pop-up restaurants and local breweries, and interactive entertainment, all surrounded by beautiful lush forests at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway.itted on the grounds, or you can stay at nearby  hotels, B&Bs or motels.

You can camp, glamp, or bring your RV to the two-night, three-day festival. Or make arrangements to go with a group in your chartered Reston Limousine shuttle. You can also opt to stay at the nearby Dover Downs Hotel & Casino, where entertainment continues with Firefly after-parties, when the performances end each day.
