
With the rise of the craft beer scene in the DC metro area, Oktoberfest celebrations have sprung up in just about every town and city. These German style “volksfest” (traditionally a combination beer festival and carnival) events are occurring on weekends through October, and we’ve compiled a list of some highlighted celebrations. The Loudoun town of Lovettsville has been celebrating its German roots for the last 26 years with an annual Oktoberfest that was named one of the best in the world by OktoberfestBeerFestivals.com. This year, expect over a half mile of free festivities including traditional Bavarian music and dancing, children’s activities at the Kinderfest, wiener dog races, arts and crafts vendors, and of course, a biergarten where you can yell “Prost” to your heart’s delight.

The party takes place in the Great Gall on this 8-acre campus in Manassas that houses 2 Silos Brewing. You can buy a commemorative 28-ounce ceramic stein and fill it with their Silobration Marzen or Helles Lager while enjoying authentic German food and music.
