About the Winery
With family heritage from one of the oldest wine making regions of the world; Greece, John Zissios grew up making wine with his father and grandfather. This has led John to pass down the tradition; teaching his sons to do the same. They now draw their inspiration from their memories of winemaking with over 15 acres of grapes. Blue Valley Vineyard and Winery arose as a masterful blend of the Zissios family winemaking and the amazing views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and Shenandoah Valley. They produce wine that is best suited for the soil, climate, and region. Blue Valley has won over 50 awards on their wines in their first year. The family believes that the key to making good wine is “patience and attention to detail.” This is a motto which has been upheld by three generations of wine makers. The production of their wine is in their 10,000 square foot winemaking facility, which include tanks from South Africa, French barrels, barrel room, and a cave.
