About the Vineyard
Opened in early 2009, Dry Mill Vineyards & Winery is snuggled into nine rolling acres of land, just one mile outside historic Leesburg, in a stable and barn that was once home to the horses and dogs of the Loudoun Hunt Club.
The owners Dean and Nancy Vanhuss fell in love with it and have, since, restored the old barn and stables. They have reused nearly all of the original woods, and kept the spirit of the stable alive giving the winery a distinct rustic feel. With exposed wooden beams, a tin roof, sconces, and a fireplace to provide warmth, Dry Mill provides a welcoming character throughout the winery.
Dean Vanhuss used Dry Mill Vineyards & Winery as a retirement venture. After working in technology, he has been growing grapes in Loudoun since the late 1990s. Most of these are planted at his home in Lovettsville with six acres already planted.
There is an outside patio that seats up to thirty people for wine tasting and light fare, and the original large wooden storm shutters how slide past the winery’s French doors inviting visitors inside. The old hay loft overlooks the grounds and hosts an event room for larger group tastings, weddings and private functions.
