About the Brewery
Named after an old crossroad in the rolling hills of Fauquier County, Virginia, Old Bust Head has new brew with an old soul. The locals who coined the name ‘Bust Head’ enjoyed good humor and the potent libations brewed there. This same lively spirit has been kept alive with the brewery that has come to take its name. While the name of this crossroads isn’t entirely known it is said to have been nicknamed after a neighbor fell off his horse after overindulging at the corner shop. Others say the locals who inhabited the area were partial to Saturday night fights after a few drinks.
Regardless of how the name came to be, Old Bust Head salutes those past and present who keep things playfully in perspective and make life a bit more enjoyable for all of us. What they are serious about is the art of crafting exceptional beer and their passion for the community and environment. With plenty of space for fermenters, they are able to brew up to 10,000 barrels of beer a year.
They do their part in leaving as small of a carbon footprint as possible through their green building, geothermal use, energy efficient brewhouse and water conservation, and by supporting local farms while reusing spent grain. Their connectedness with the environment, both locally and globally, helps drive their commitment to sustainability.
