A number of area events are scheduled this fall to help raise funds for worthwhile causes. Mark your calendars and save the date!
Sept. 11, 2012 11:30 am – 10 pm — Be a hero for the American Red Cross in DC. Travinia Italian Kitchen at the Villages at Leesburg will donate 10 percent of sales to the American Red Cross. There will be a silent auction. Guests are welcome to bring jewelry or silver items to donate or to sell to NovaGold, who will donate 10 percent of sales to the Red Cross.The Loudoun Leadership Council will host a VIP wine reception from 4 -6 pm.
Sept. 20, 2012 12:30 p.m (shotgun start) — AH&T Insurance will host its 24th Annual Charity Golf Tournament at the Piedmont Club in Haymarket, VA. Over the years the tournaments have raised more than $320,000 for charitable causes throughout Loudoun County. This year’s beneficiary will be the food pantry Loudoun Interfaith Relief. Sept. 22, 2012 7 – 11 pm — The Loudoun Free Clinic presents “Seasons of Care” Fall Gala at the Ballroom of the National Conference Center in Leesburg. With the theme, “A Carnivale in Rio,” the event will feature a VIP pre-party for donors on Sept. 7, casino, dancing, silent auction, delicious cuisine and cocktails. Black tie is optional. Purchasing a ticket for the gala could provide diabetic strips for up to six months for one patient, medications for two patients for a year, or labs for one patient. Oct. 20, 2012 6 -10 pm — The Tigerlilly Foundation‘s 4th Annual EmPOWER Ball will be held at the McLean Hilton. The foundation provides service-oriented assistance to young women ages 15 to 40 before, during and after breast cancer. Funds raised from the ball will go toward providing peer support, education, buddy bags, financial assistance and empowerment to those young women in treatment for breast cancer.
Nov. 2, 2012 — “In the Bag 3 — Purses for Preparedness,” is an annual event that will be held at the Hilton McLean. The fundraising luncheon comprises a silent auction and raffle. In the past two years, the event has raised $82,000 for the DC Red Cross. Last year, the organizing committee collected 125 designer handbags, both new and gently used from celebrities, professional women and women in the news media. The bags were sold at the auction.
