From ABC7’s Washington Business Report, Dec. 14, 2014:
Bus to promote D.C. business
Over the next few months, Cary Hatch’s GW Magical Mystery Tour will visit 50 top business minds in the D.C. area.
Motivated by a conversation with Washington Business Journal publisher James MacGregor, whom you may remember from our show last week, Hatch hopes that the tour will inspire leaders in the Washington region to come together and talk about what’s important.
Hatch was accompanied by fellow “tourists” Kristina Bouweiri and Barbara Lang when they joined Washington Business Report to discuss goals, the Washington region business community, and how businesses can take advantage of resources. Hatch, CEO of MDB Communications, Bouweiri, president and CEO of Reston Limousines, and Lang, CEO of Lang Strategies, are just a small sample of the wide array of business minds who are participating in the tour’s efforts.
What we learned:
• The Washington region has a reputation for its lack of cohesion
• By meeting with top leaders in Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland, Hatch hopes a greater sense of unity can be found, leading to benefits for all
• Unity in the region has been on the rise, and the tour will only multiply this trend, Lang says
• For a Washington-area business to fully realize its potential, it must tap into the markets of D.C., Virginia, and Maryland
